SETTING FREE PSYCHIATRIC PATIENTS FREE_IS A NO SICK JOKE

Though some would have regarded such an action as just a threat to gain editorial mileage...I was really shaken this Saturday that upon stumbling on the copy of the local publication Swazi News which headlined on "Nurses to set psychiatric patients free " .

This comes from the background from the Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union (SWADNU) historic march has was not only be fueled by the country's nursing fraternity following my beloved government failure to attend them on their basic right of cost of living adjustment.

Before hitting on the streets the nurses were engaged in a rather lethal go slow strike at the country's major medical institutions. I was directly affected cause i suffered from an itchy chest which prevented me to hold the bull by its horns whilst my fellow eMaswati from the rural background the effects were just lethal, some of the voiceless lost their breadwinners because of the effects of the go slow.

It is just funny how government decided to alleviate the problem by substituting the experienced professionals with 'maybe' equally qualified but not experienced Correctional Officers and Volunteers. I would have been happy if my beloved Government of Eswatini would have addressed the nursing fraternity's concerns and demands rather hiding behind a glass in order to make the country to appreciate the water less efforts of substituting a service which between life and death.

I  am amongst a few who have learned much on Human Rights Law yet was ridiculed by my own system when i applied to work for them as they only considered the blue bloodied ... For my not celebrated educational background the International Covenant on Economic , Social and Cultural Rights adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on the 16th December 1966 which the Kingdom of Eswatini is signatory to clearly states on Article 12 (1) " The States Parties to the present Covenant recognize the enjoyment of the highest attainment standard of physical and mental health" ...

Just forget the story of the police officer's broken baton , the news that have been talk of the drinking hall is the threat of releasing the violent psychiatric patience from the only facility in Manzini cannot be taken lightly.  The move is so unfortunate because there was a revelation that these patients had not been receiving medication for quite some time. Government recent revealed her cash flow challenges thus resulting the shortage of drugs in most medical institutions in the country.

This is just something the country and the world needs to attend to to ...judging the past experience government shall continue with its mind games and for us with foreign surnames and voiceless we shall be adversely be affected by the situation...May sanity prevail with the guy holding the loot  and forget the gravy trains of workshops and conferences..
