MAKE ESWATINI TRADE FAIR GREAT AGAIN
Over the last five years Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA) has overlooked the importance of the Eswatini International Trade Fair entertainment. Despite the ever decreasing number of people attending the 'entertainment shows' SIPA has continously displayed sheer arrogance on the provision of entertainment structures in previous and current entertainment.
It is no hidden fact that having government Ministries such as the ever crowd pulling Ministry of Home Affairs the day's business wouldn't be same. At least whilst awaiting for the issuance of their respective documents , the Swazi nation finds time to roam around the pavilions.
it is not often that i write and provoke a management or operations brawl. The issue of 2019 Eswatini International Trade Fair entertainment nights just left an egg on the faces of those responsible for the entertainment.
i have it in authority that Eswatini Music Association (ESWAMA) and ACCASWA had the priviledge to be given the hosting rights of the entertainment (let me say music) and due to the poor turnout at all the events like many we would blame their organisational approach. Accusing both associations of 'poor' hosting cannot be held as the Ace to shoot down both Presidents.
The problem of the poor support of the trade fair music shows did not start three weeks ago but the problem was when SIPA used iron fist approach and dismantled the legacy organisational approach of hosting the trade fair. All all night gigs were suspended, slowly but surely ignoring international acts, told the Eswatini Nation what they thought would good medicine for our ears.
it is a shame that in response the Swazi Nation decided not to attended all the shabbily organised events (save for the now popular drag racing). For the current year it has been an unfortunate for both music associations because they inherited the poison in its fattening ranch.
i just wonder why didn't we have proper advertising of the shows on country's media especially at the country's main radio stations. People of Eswatini still believe in hearing that radio advert "asidibane eshowini kaManzini' craze which shall be blended with the various artists music blazing on the background.
even though we promoting Swazi artists who have measurable proof that they do not draw reasonable crowds as most locals in the outskirts of Mbabane and Manzini have never heard of their songs (save for Lindelwa Mafa's endless hardwork of promoting local). It is no hidden fact that blending local and international acts shall ensure everyone is catered for.
With the above i don't want to play devil's advocate with regard to the selection of one and same artists performing. Does this show we do not have enough pool? Does it mean bring a South African act it should always be a Gcom or Nightclub DJ ? Where are the reknowned bands and groups who can bring life to the shows?
Lastly may the children zone be filled with better swings and carts ...we can just do better with clowns doing face paintings to bambinos ...they just deserve better than what SIPA offers.
